About me

Artist Biography

I've always been drawing almost my whole life, as I was only some months old, I would pick up crayons and scribble whatever I could. Because of my ever consistent love of art, as I became more capable of making my own decisions, I chose to go to an arts high school to hone my skills. It was rough at first, to say the least. Covid was an absolute pain in the neck, and I had a lot of other unknown things going on, so it was definitely the perfect storm. It came to a point where I wasn't able to properly do much drawing anymore, I was so deep in the rabbit hole, I couldn't bother with trying to improve my academics or my art. But thankfully it wasn't long before there was a small light at the end of the tunnel. In person school was finally back, and I started to slowly figure out why I was so apathetic all of a sudden. I slowly built myself back up again, figuring out that I actually mildly enjoy chemistry and geometry, and I was finally able to enjoy more art classes again. It's admittedly still a struggle, I don't know that it will ever not be, but I'm happy with the progress I've made. I'm still sort of learning how I work and navigate life, how my art could reflect me, things like that. I think I'm getting closer and closer everyday to figuring out how I can put more of me into my work, and it makes me feel hopeful.

Artist Statement

I really enjoy the process of creating, and I had a lot, and I mean A LOT of internet access, so I found out about some different shows, cartoons, anime, and video games. All of which usually involved art of some kind, and I most definitely found myself taking bits and pieces from every art style I admired, and sort of slowly started to develop my own art style even if I didn't realize I was from time to time. I feel strange bringing these things up, but as I got older I found out about one particular manga/anime series called Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and it very quickly captivated me. The art style was really interesting to me, and while it's more noticeable in the manga, I really liked the way the anatomy looked later on. The work is created by Hirohiko Araki, and he's definitely had a massive influence on how I make my art. I find myself hoping to achieve the ability to include the elements he includes in his own work almost every day. That applies to most manga artists that I know of, actually. Junji ito, Atsushi Ohkubo, and Gege Akutami to name a few. It would be quite a compliment to hear someone mention once in awhile that my art reminds them of any of those artists. I've already had my style compared to JJBA, but if I can expand and improve on my work enough to reach their levels, I'll be happy.
